Major Achievements -

In April 1999 Notting Hill Housing Trust opened a centre for street homeless in West London. As well as providing 40 individual bedrooms which include a 'women only floor', it has a Resource Centre with medical facilities, a training room equipped with computers, a canteen, laundry and drop-in centre available to all street homeless. The hostel has never had an empty bed and over 300 people a week use the Resource Centre.

Set up in 1995 with £150,000 of charitable money the Construction Training Initiative has led to 200 people gaining full time skilled employment and is now self-funding, has been blueprinted and is being replicated nationally and in 15 London boroughs. The scheme has not only been visited and praised by her Majesty the Queen but also won the prestigious Charity 2000 Award for excellence and leadership in training and education in the charitable sector.
